【Tokyo Accommodation】Super Hotel Ueno-Okachimachi: Great Location, Excellent Value, Free Organic Breakfast & Pillow Selection!

For this trip to Tokyo, I chose to stay in Ueno, an area known for its convenient transportation. Ueno is not only served by the Keisei Skyliner, which provides direct access to Narita Airport, but is also a major transportation hub with multiple subway and JR lines.

For this stay, I chose Super Hotel Ueno-Okachimachi, which I found to be an excellent choice for balancing comfort and affordability.

For travelers like me, who spend most of the day walking around until our feet are sore, a hotel’s location and sleep quality are really important. In this post, I’ll share my experience staying at Super Hotel Ueno-Okachimachi and why I would recommend it to other travelers.

Why Did I Choose Super Hotel Ueno-Okachimachi?

One of the best things about Super Hotel Ueno-Okachimachi is its convenient location. It takes less than five minutes on foot to reach Naka-Okachimachi Station, making it easy to get to popular areas such as Ginza, Asakusa, and Shibuya. JR Okachimachi Station is also nearby, making it even more convenient for getting around Tokyo.

The hotel is also located close to the famous Ameya Yokocho (Ameyoko) shopping street. Whether you’re looking for a late-night snack, want to browse drugstores, or pick up some Japanese snacks, it’s all just a short walk away.

Although the hotel is located in a busy area, it becomes surprisingly quiet once you walk into the surrounding side streets. For travelers who value a good night’s sleep, I found this to be a definite plus.

Hotel Services: Comfortable Sleep & Female-Friendly Amenities

1. Choose the Perfect Pillow for a Better Night’s Sleep

One of the most well-known features of the Super Hotel brand is the “pillow wall” next to the elevator. Guests can choose from a variety of pillows with different levels of firmness, heights, and even materials, including pillows with tea scents and Binchotan charcoal.

💡 Tip: These pillows are available in limited quantities, so if you return to the hotel too late, the most popular ones may already be gone. I recommend choosing your favorite pillow as soon as you check in and taking it back to your room!

2. Special Complimentary Amenities for Female Guests

If you’re a female guest, the hotel usually lets you choose five complimentary items when you check in. These may include face masks, hair ties, bath salts, or skincare samples.

They may be small things, but I really appreciated the thoughtful touch. It made the stay feel a little more welcoming and helped ease some of the fatigue after a long day of traveling.

The available items may vary depending on what is offered at the hotel during your stay.

Room Tour: Compact Yet Well-Equipped

Hotel rooms in central Tokyo tend to be quite small, and Super Hotel is no exception. Once you step inside, there’s roughly enough space for one large suitcase to be opened up. However, the room makes very good use of the available space, with plenty of storage, all the essential amenities, and a generous number of power outlets.

What impressed me the most was how comfortable the bed was. Combined with the pillow I had chosen earlier, I had a really good night’s sleep.

The bathroom is a compact unit-style bathroom, but it was kept very clean and well-maintained, with no unpleasant odors at all.

A Delicious & Healthy Organic Breakfast

Another major highlight of Super Hotel is its free healthy breakfast. While the selection isn’t as extensive as what you might find at a luxury five-star hotel, I felt that every item was thoughtfully prepared.

The breakfast features organic vegetable salads and freshly baked bread every day. I especially enjoyed the bread—it had a satisfyingly hearty texture and a wonderful aroma.

In an expensive city like Tokyo, having a filling breakfast at the hotel before heading out for the day can help save quite a bit of money while also making sure you have enough energy for a full day of sightseeing!
