Just before the Mid-Autumn Festival, I received this year’s seasonal gift box from my company. As soon as I opened the bag, I found a familiar name inside—SunnyHills, a beloved Taiwanese brand known for its pineapple cakes.

I turned the box over to take a look at the ingredients, and the list was pleasantly simple. The main ingredients are pineapple, butter, flour, eggs, and sugar, without a long list of unfamiliar artificial additives, which made me feel a little more at ease about enjoying them.

2026 Mid-Autumn Festival Limited-Edition Linen-Cotton Tote Bag

One of the most charming extras from SunnyHills is always its linen-cotton reusable tote bag. For the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival limited edition, the front features a large golden full moon. Each pineapple cake is individually sealed in white paper wrapping. I placed a few on the table to enjoy with a cup of tea. Their compact rectangular shape makes them easy to hold and enjoy.

As soon as I opened the wrapper, I noticed the distinct aroma of freshly baked butter. The crust was golden brown with a lightly toasted finish, and the neatly shaped edges made it easy to hold.

With the first bite, the crust feels firm with a slightly crisp texture, along with a rich buttery aroma. The filling is not the sticky, soft winter melon paste found in some traditional pineapple cakes, but instead consists of Taiwanese pineapple cooked down to a deep golden yellow.

Looking closely at the filling, you can clearly see the fine pineapple fibers. It has a mildly sweet and tangy flavor, retaining the natural acidity that Taiwanese pineapples are known for. The pineapple texture is quite noticeable as you chew, while the overall sweetness remains nicely balanced.
